Communications Toolkit

Partners, you can support your customers to innovate too!

This communications toolkit will enable all you to promote the Innovation Accreditation Programme alongside your existing corporate branding and messaging. You can use it to adapt promotional materials, digital content and media relations activity for your own programmes and initiatives, helping increase awareness of Innovate NI, innovation as a concept and helping your customers progress along the innovation journey.

Introduction

Collaboration on the promotion of innovation activities under the Innovate NI brand will be essential for programme success.

Innovate NI is a Department for the Economy initiative, delivered by Invest Northern Ireland in partnership with local councils and further education colleges across Northern Ireland.

The ultimate goal of the programme is to increase the number of Northern Ireland businesses successfully engaging in innovation activity.  The programme aims to do this by raising awareness of what innovation is, highlighting the importance and value of innovation for business growth and competitiveness and by providing practical advice for businesses on how to innovate.  The success of the programme is dependent on the collaboration of all delivery stakeholders and the promotion of Innovate NI is a key part of that process.

This guidance has been developed by Invest NI to help ensure a consistent approach by all stakeholders in how we reference and credit Innovate NI in all promotional activity. For more information on how to apply the guidance in this document contact Invest NI Communications Team.

Innovation Accreditation Programme stamp

The Innovation Accreditation Programme has a unique brand called the Innovation Stamp.

If you have any marketing collateral which promotes innovation, we would encourage you to add the Innovation Stamp to these materials.

The Stamp is made up of a number of elements as shown below.

Below is an example of a keyline variation of the stamp, which leaves the logo icon clear. This can be used where the creative does not facilitate the full colour logo icon.

If your communication is compact, or requires an online sign-off, you may wish to use the web stamp (pictured below).

When applying the Stamp to your designs, please consult the Innovation Style Guide (PDF) which provides advice on Stamp size, colour and exclusion zones, and consider which version of the stamp is most appropriate to use.

Innovation Accreditation Programme style guide

We have developed a style guide to help you use the Innovation Accrediation Programme Stamp and its associated corporate identity.

This guide provides advice on the Innovation Stamp, colour palette, clearance areas and also provides visual examples of how organisations can use it along with their own corporate identities. We encourage our partners and stakeholders to apply the Innovation Accreditation Programme branding to their programme which support innovation in the local business.

Generic newsletters and articles

We have developed some generic articles which stakeholders adapt for a particular audience.

We know that most organisations have their own customer, resident or staff newsletters, magazines and e-zines, so we have drafted some generic articles which you may want to include.

These articles are a guide only and may be edited to suit the needs of the publication, audience and the context of the communication.

Print assets

In this section you will find adaptable print assets to help you promote the Innovation Accreditation Programme under your own organisation's brand.

Digital media

We have produced a number of promotional videos and clips which you can use to promote the Innovation Accreditation Programme online or at your events.

Press releases

With multiple stakeholders involved in Innovate NI and to avoid duplication in PR, we have developed protocols which we would encourage stakeholders to follow.

PR and Media Relations Protocol

Protocol Detail
Milestone PR for Innovate NI & Innovation Accreditation    Invest NI, in conjunction with DfE, will lead on Innovate NI and the Innovation Accreditation milestone PR and social media activity.  We will share these news releases with all stakeholders and will tag stakeholders on our social media posts.

Invest NI customers & innovation

Invest NI will lead on PR/social media activity in relation to Invest NI customers and their innovation activity and participation in the Innovation Accreditation Programme.

If a Council or FE College has a relationship with a business and that business is also an Invest NI customer, we would ask that you do not progress any specific Innovation PR with that business without prior discussion with Invest NI Communications. This is to avoid duplication or a clash in PR schedules. Invest NI may already have a PR plan in progress for that customer that stakeholders would need to be aware off.
Council & FE Colleges innovation activity (with non- Invest NI customers)     Local Councils and Further Education colleges are encouraged to do Innovation PR/social media activity with non-Invest NI customers.  This will help promote innovation as a concept, other innovation programmes, Innovate NI and non-Invest NI’s customers/local business participation in the Innovation Accreditation Programme.

PR straplines for press releases & editorial features

For all press releases where the story is principally about innovation, we would encourage stakeholders to use the appropriate PR straplines at the end of all press releases, to correctly reference Innovate NI.
